DESCRIPTION
The Audiovisual and Media Education Project (PEAM) is funded by the Polish Film Institute. The aim of the project is to create a comprehensive and open-access education programme as well as a programme for the use of the media and audiovisual resourses at all levels of education. A pilot on-line course entitled: Film as a story – how to read a film was created within the first stage of the PEAM project. It is embedded on the open-source educational platform Moodle. The main value of the course is that it uses movie extracts to illustrate and explain the meaning of the phenomena that are present in the film making process. The e-course was positively evaluated by PISF media educators and in co-operation with the School Film Library (Filmoteka Szkolna) two other e-courses were requested to be created on the platform within the second stage of the PEAM project: The basics of journalism and The methodology of film education. They are dedicated for pedagogy students, teachers, film educators and all those who are interested in developing audiovisual/film making skills. The courses’ objective is to spread the film education as well as to show how the film might be used as a didactic tool. Within the project, an international conference: Film and Media Education in Poland and the world – systemic solutions and case studies was held in 2012 and the second another one is planned for 6-7 May 2014.
