"It is impossible that James Bond jumped so far (...)" – this is a quotation referring to stereotypes in thinking about film education and media, taken from a recently published multimedia book, created in the framework of the Audiovisual and Media Education Programme (PEAM) project, carried out by the Centre for Open and Multimedia Education,University of Warsaw (COME UW) and the Polish Film Institute (PISF). The publication presents what can be achieved through film education and how to teach the cinema art. Interested? Then go ahead and read about it >>here<<!.
"The new media is a kind of palace with millions of labyrinths. We are doomed to search on our own the treasure hidden in the maze of corridors, doors, windows, links, files, documents, etc. "- this is another quote from the book, and also the reason for which the book is available on-line within the open educational resources license. The publication summarizes the international conference "Film and Media Education in Poland and the World - Systemic Solutions and Case Studies", organized at the University of Warsaw in May 2015 by COME UW and PISF. During the symposium, speakers from several countries (including the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Denmark, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, the USA) shared their experiences and ideas in the field of film education and discussed which of them have a chance to succeed in Poland.
The book consists of several parts: the introductory articles, recordings of speeches divided into three thematic sections: "Original film education programs", "Education and film festivals" and "Local initiatives in the field of film education" and the section of interesting questions in the field.
The international conference and the post-conference publication are only a part of the >>PEAM project<<. The other important components are >>the e-learning courses<<, like "The reporter course of the “Filmoteka” School, "Methodology of teaching about film and filmmaking," "How to prepare a documentary film project?".
